St. Michael Students Take Environmental Leadership Role
The St. Michael ‘Green Team’, led by teacher, Ms. Howe and their principal, Mr. James celebrated Earth Day with an opportunity to create a ‘greener’ school environment. The team visited Tomlinson Environmental Services’ two recycling facilities in Carp and Springhill.
The students participated in an educational tour, led by the facilities operators, Jason Wagner, and Rob Hall. Here the team, in their hard-hats, had a behind the scenes look at what happens to the recycling matter after it

With the opportunity to ask questions and see a practical application to their recycling practices, the students returned to the school wanting to seek action to make St. Michael a ‘greener’ community. On Thursday May 2, the St. Michael student body participated in a community clean-up to put their words into action, and give back to the community. In addition, the students have been heading up a campaign to encourage their peers to use re-usable water bottles, and make use of the new water bottle re-fill station by purchasing a St. Michael re-usable water bottle.
